When you fill out a contact form to ask a question or send me a message, I collect your first name and e-mail address, in order to reply back to you. This information is given freely, so I do not collect this without your permission. Your e-mail address is safe with me, and will not be shared with anyone else. No other personal information is collected by ThisPixieCreates.
When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
ThisPixieCreates uses Google Analytics to analyze trends, traffic, and bounce rate (does a reader leave a site after viewing one page?). When you enter ThisPixieCreates, Google Analytics will place a cookie on your browser. This cookie allows the program to track where you are coming from (general region, no specific addresses), how long you stay on my website, and which pages you view. Once you exit ThisPixieCreates, Google Analytics will no longer track you, until your next visit to ThisPixieCreates.
ThisPixieCreates uses some affiliate links in blog posts. An affiliate link is a link that is unique to ThisPixieCreates, which leads back to a company’s website (ex. Amazon.ca). When a reader clicks on our unique link, a cookie is placed on their browser to track their behaviour. If the reader makes a purchase, ThisPixieCreates may make a small commission.
If you leave a comment on this site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a tiny file (made up of letters and numbers) that is placed on your browser when you enter a website. Cookies are used to help track your browsing behaviour (how long you spend on a website, which pages you view, and where you are in the world (general region, not specific address)). Cookies DO NOT collect personal data. They are simply used to create an anonymous profile of you as a reader. Cookies can be deleted by clearing your browsing history. As a user, you have the right to delete your cookies OR control your cookies at any time. Here is a link to help you delete and control your cookies.
If you are a little confused, here is a video that explains the concept of cookies really well.
How Long I Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where I Send Your Data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
This Pixie Creates is a participant in the following affiliate programs:
- Amazon Services LLC Associates Program
- Blick Affiliates Program
- Hobby Lobby
- Michaels Stores
- Lion Brand Yarn Company
Affiliate programs are designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to an online store (ex. amazon.ca).
How does it work?
In each blog post, I provide links to all the materials used in a project. Some of these materials can be found on Amazon, Blick, etc., so I will post an affiliate link to take you directly to the product on these sites.
If you click on one of the affiliate links, I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase within 24 hours of clicking the link (at no additional or extra cost to you). Each affiliate link can be identified by the * beside it.
